NAWIC Detroit |
The Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction ("NAWIC") was chartered on October 16, 1971 by 44 women working in the construction industry. Since that date, the Detroit Chapter has continuously promoted women in construction by providing educational programs and networking opportunities for every aspect of the industry. Locally, the Detroit Chapter enjoys partnering with the Construction Association of Michigan ("CAM") and the Associated General Contractors of America ("AGC") along with other leading industry organizations. The NAWIC Detroit Chapter is one of the largest in Region 4 which consists of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia and strives to provide the best services and opportunities for its members.
Nationally, NAWIC has a membership of 5,800 with close to 200 chapters in almost every U.S. State and in Canada. Since 1996, NAWIC has seen its core purpose grow internationally, with the signing of International Affiliation agreements with NAWIC-Australia, NAWIC-New Zealand, South African Women in Construction, and most recently with NAWIC-United Kingdom. In its nearly 50 years of service to its membership, NAWIC has advanced the causes of all women in construction from tradeswomen to business owners.
